Western Lycia - 4 days
The Lycian Way is Turkey’s first long distance footpath exploring the coastal region between Fethiye and Antalya. Our route covers most of the best & intact walks of the Western section starting in Ovacık - Gey. The highlights include ancient ruined cities, spectacular coastal views, Turkish village life, ruins of Sidyma, Aktaş & Kabak beaches. The tour is ideal for hikers seeking for remote and authentic locations along with a delicate Turkish couisine.
DAY 1. Transfer. HIKE Ovacik –Kirme –Faralya (13 km) (D)
The transfer will meet you at Dalaman Airport or Fethiye to take you to the beginning of the hike in Ovacık. The necessary files, tripbook, GPS and the phone will be ready in the transfer car. The walk follows a forest road traversing the skirts of the Babadağ with wonderful views of Oludeniz and the blue lagoon. The route continues up on a caravan trail and reaches Kozağaç and then to Kirme. The trail starts going down past Kirme and reaches Faralya with views of the village and the sea beyond.

The day starts directly from the pension on a nice path above the cliffs of Butterfly Valley. The breath taking view looks down onto the valley and the turquoise waters of the bay. The path follows the coast and reaches the small beach of Aktaş. After a swimming option and some tea by the cafe within the forest, the route carries on to Kabak Village. Set within a beautiful valley, Kabak is one of the most beautiful places on the coastline. As an option you may walk down to the sea for a swimming option.

DAY 3. HIKE Kabak- Alınca; Boğaziçi - Sidyma (13 km) (B,L,D)
The day starts directly from the pension and follows a well defined caravan trail up on the valley and the mountain. After a long and scenic climb, the route reaches the small village of Alınca. This is a nice place perched high upon the mountain with amazing views looking over to the sevencapes. A short transfer (15 min) takes you to Boğaziçi, the route then carries on to Dodurga/Sidyma on an ascending path. Dodurga/Sidyma is one of the few places where you can see the village life set upon an ancient city. After settling into your rooms and resting your legs for a while, you can go for another strall through the ruins of Sidyma. Tonights accommodaiton is in a village house in Sidyma, with excellent local food!

DAY 4. HIKE Sidyma - Gey (7 km). Transfer to Dalaman. (B,L)
After a nice breakfast in the village house, the day starts on a footpath through the olive grooves and oak trees. The route goes up on a height of 900 meters and down again to arrave at the mountain village of Ge (also mentioned as Gey). After a lunch on a village house, the transfer will take you back to Dalaman Airport (2 hr)
Trip books are included in all our tours. Our trip books are complete packages of information which will help you to find your way through the itinerary we have created for you. Putting in significant time end effort, we have compiled this book which includes Google Earth Maps, Highlighted routes, Touristic information, pick up and drop off points and easy to follow directions with pictures.
Although, most of the routes along the tours are very well way marked, we decided to provide GPS units which are simple to use, easy to read nonetheless sophisticated devices. The routes and waypoints (including water sources, pickup points and hotels) described in the trip books are preloaded in the GPS. All you have to do is follow the route shown on the device. 1 GPS is provided for every group.
With the experiences we have had, we thought that it is best to provide every group with a mobile phone with a pre-paid Turkish sim-card. This helps a a lot in making arrangements during the trip. The phone numbers of the hotels, emergency numbers and the contact details for the company are already listed in the mobile phones.

WHAT TO BRING: WALKING
Hiking boots or strong shoes with good tread and ankle support, shorts and t-shirt (warm weather), fleece, waterproofs, day pack (35ltr. + -), walking trousers, long sleeved top, sun protection- hat, sunglasses, sun cream, insect repellant, walking poles recommended,
beach towel, swim kit.
Main Baggage is transferred on to next nights’ accommodation
In April daytime temps reach the low twenties (centigrade), mostly sunny but still chances of rain. In May the temperature rises to late twenties and less chance of rain.
Evenings can still be quite cool in early April.
From mid September through October, mainly sunny day with temps in mid twenties and warm evenings cooling down later in the season.
